Lead Software Engineer (Pricing Strategy Development) (Western Union, LLC, Austin, TX)
Design and implement scalable, distributed software systems, ensuring performance, reliability, and maintainability. Develop technical architecture and design specifications for complex applications, selecting appropriate tools, frameworks, and design patterns. Solve high-impact, ambiguous engineering problems by creating innovative software solutions that align with business and product goals. Collaborate closely with product managers, UX designers, and other engineering teams to gather requirements and deliver high-quality software solutions. Drive adoption of engineering best practices including code quality, automated testing, performance tuning, and secure coding standards. Perform in-depth code reviews and provide technical guidance to ensure design consistency and optimal implementation across the codebase. Research, evaluate, and prototype emerging technologies to assess their applicability and impact on existing systems. Take ownership of technical deliverables across multiple projects or product areas, proactively identifying and mitigating risks to ensure on-time delivery. Contribute to internal technical documentation, design artifacts, and system diagrams to support knowledge sharing and maintainability. Telecommuting may be permitted up to 2 days per week. When not telecommuting, must report to Western Union, LLC at 11902 Burnet Road, Suite 350, Austin, TX 78758. Salary: $163,550 – $242,614 per year.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or U.S. equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, plus 5 years of professional experience as a Software Engineer, Software Engineering Manager, or any occupation, job title, position leading engineering teams through the full software development lifecycle (SDLC).
Must also have experience in the following: 5 years of professional experience leveraging Agile methodologies (including Scrum and Kanban) to drive iterative development, enhance team collaboration, ensure continuous delivery, and rapidly adapt to evolving project requirements and business goals; 5 years of professional experience developing robust, scalable applications using modern programming languages (including Java and C++) and applying industry-standard design patterns to build maintainable, high-performance software solutions; 5 years of professional experience utilizing Microservices architecture and cloud-native technologies to design, develop, and deploy scalable, resilient, and maintainable distributed systems, enabling faster delivery cycles, and improving system reliability, and seamless cloud integration; 5 years of professional experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and geographically dispersed stakeholders to assess business needs and deliver IT solutions aligned with emerging tech standards; and 5 years of professional experience utilizing Optimizely, Apache Iceberg, and Kubernetes.

Salary
The on-target earnings range is $163,550 – $242,614 per year, which includes a base salary and short-term and long-term incentives that align with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary based on candidates’ qualifications, skills, and competencies.
