Global Internships

The Western Union Internship Program is a valuable opportunity for students to gain real-world experience working for an international brand, bring their unique insights and talents to the company, and expand various teams’ capacity.

Internships around the world

Several Western Union locations offer opportunities for internships. Given the future state of work, remote or virtual programs may be available at any given time. Schedules and program duration vary per location and business need. (See charts below.) Note: Internship opportunities are posted as available.

When companies hire interns, everyone wins

WU Interns

Having a thoughtful internship program means worthwhile opportunities for the interns, the hiring managers, and the company as a whole. Interns participate in planned activities, team huddles, and project work wherein they utilize and explore developing interests and skills. Hiring managers meanwhile gain added capacity and fresh perspectives within their teams. And by providing exposure to incoming professionals, the company creates organic brand ambassadors and helps build the next generation of talent.

We invite our global interns to share their unique perspectives and insights. Encouraged to challenge the way we work, they have an opportunity to drive innovation and advance business objectives. This is no small task, and we hope our interns leave the experience feeling fulfilled, accomplished, and confident that they have honed skills important to their future success.

Testimonials

In the few months that our Western Union Interns spend with us, we hope to provide enriching, unique, and memorable experiences full of learning and growth opportunities. Read what some of our global interns had to say about their programs:

I started working full-time at Western Union after my internship. I enjoyed the company culture, collaborative environment, and its people. What made my internship experience unique was being able to explore, getting to know different teams and departments to see what they do and how they work.

Sabela P.V.
AML Compliance Intern (2019)
Vilnius, Lithuania

I was part of the Western Union internship program in 2013. I later became a full-time employee in 2014 as part of the Compliance team, then I was promoted to be part of Human Resources in 2019. I’m grateful for the trust I received from the company since Day one, even though at that time I was a high school student with no experience. Western Union gave me the opportunity to learn and practice my knowledge since the beginning.

Compliance Intern (2013)
Santa Ana, Costa Rica

When you apply for an internship with a Fortune 500 company, you hardly ever expect to be working closely with, or even see any chief officers for that matter. Being able to work so closely with top HR executives in the company was a very humbling experience.

Andy W.
Employer Brand Intern (2018)
Denver, Colorado, U.S.A.

I learned so much during my internship with Western Union! My internship gave me the opportunity to meet great mentors and become part of a friendly team. I loved my individual projects because I found the work interesting, challenging, and I created an actual impact for my team.

Maya C.
IT and Communications Intern (2020)
Denver, Colorado, U.S.A.

I had a wonderful time as a Western Union Intern, from getting to know my fellow interns to meeting company leaders and having the opportunity to ask them challenging questions. My manager helped me with a number of the early engineering and development skills I will need to be successful.

Aakash T.
Software Engineering Intern (2020)
Denver, Colorado, U.S.A.

WU has taught me how it is like to work with a set of passionate people to achieve a common goal with respect towards one another and how it is even more important to chill and celebrate small successes to keep the party going and work flowing.
