The Western Union Foundation
For more than 20 years, the Western Union Foundation has been creating economic opportunities for underserved youth and people who migrate in search of better opportunities.
Since inception, we have invested:
Prosperity Beyond Borders
The Western Union Foundation’s current social impact commitment is Prosperity Beyond Borders, a multi-year initiative to drive $500 million in aggregate wage gains for disadvantaged, high-potential individuals who currently lack access to economic mobility.
Employee Engagement
Thousands of Western Union employees engage with the Foundation through volunteering, mentorships, donations, and localized programs in their communities. Their dedication inspires and helps achieve our overall objective to transform lives around the world.

One of the Foundation’s flagship programs is the Western Union Global Scholars program. Education creates one of the surest pathways towards economic opportunity and mobility, and we have invested in education for underserved populations for more than 20 years. We’re proud to have partnered with the Institute of International Education to facilitate our scholarship program since 2005.
Environmental, social, and governance
The Western Union annual Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report is an in-depth summary of our approach and progress on topics including inclusive innovation; diversity, equity & inclusion; environmental stewardship; moving money with integrity; and corporate governance.
Employee engagement and support
Western Union employees are some of the Foundation’s most valuable contributors. See the impact of our global employees to the Western Union Foundation in 2023.
