Our People

Our employees are fundamental to help make financial services accessible to everyone, everywhere. Believing in our aspiration and purpose is critical to our success, as is building a team that reflects the diversity of the millions of customers we serve.

Advancing Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging

Our ability to confidently serve the emerging needs of our customers starts with honoring our employee’s identity, creating a feeling of belonging in an inclusive work environment with boundless connections and growth opportunities.

  • We strive to serve a world where diversity is celebrated in all forms, and our customers and employees feel treated equitably and inspired to share their unique backgrounds and perspectives.
  • We hire with purpose – seeking qualified diverse applicants across all segments with expanded hiring partnerships and practices to increase diverse representation globally. The organization also supports our employees with DEIB-related education, employee resource groups, and other development programs.

Employee engagement and resource groups

Western Union Listens

Group of people having coffee

We hold employee surveys through our employee engagement tool, Western Union Listens, benchmarking our results against global peers. We use the results to continually improve our culture and workplace, and encourage managers to review, discuss, and take action on survey findings with their teams.

Bravo! Global Recognition Program

Recognition is a critical link to performance, inclusion, diverse ideas, and fostering a workplace where our employees connect, show their appreciation, and feel valued. At Western Union, our recognition is about moments that matter.

Business Resource Groups

Our global Business Resource Groups are key to our DEIB strategy and play an important role in supporting an inclusive culture where employees can thrive. They are supported by site business leaders to focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion, “culture of the customer”, community, and the environment.

Women@WesternUnion

Women@WesternUnion allows female employees to meet, share ideas, develop careers, network, and be inspired. Through leading our ERG, we have been fortunate to work with some amazing women, internally and externally at all levels, who are passionate about supporting other women. It is incredible that by sharing one goal despite being from different cultures, we can see that we’re not that different and that we can achieve great things by supporting each other.

Asian Pacific Islander Advisory Council

Having ERGs that support diversity and inclusion of the various communities and groups in the company amplifies this reason. It also gives me a safe place to interact, collaborate, and improve with other members of the community I am affiliated. It’s a good avenue for me to socialize and talk about topics aside from my roles and responsibilities. We freely share ideas that promote our cultural background, celebrate our differences among the AAPI community, and have fun too.

Black Employee Network

With the global pandemic and civil unrest this last year, having an ERG of like-minded people to meet with and discuss our feelings in a safe, inclusive environment was very important for my colleagues and me.

LGBTQ@WesternUnion

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I’m honored to work for an organization that doesn’t just talk about diversity but makes every effort to represent people of all varieties, at all levels, within the company. ERG’s have become an important part of our employee engagement and further reflects our enthusiasm for moving money for better.

Somos Unidos

There is a true sense of belonging, along with a group of unique and very talented colleagues at work who come from similar backgrounds and who have faced realities like mine. It is a platform that provides support when needed and a chance to help others and enjoy our own culture in a safe and warm environment. A priceless opportunity to build awareness across Western Union and support the communities we represent and serve as an organization.
