Role Responsibilities
As a key member of Western Union’s Settlement Operations team in Santa Ana, Costa Rica, this role supports daily and monthly settlement accounting activities, ensuring accurate and timely transaction processing. The Senior Associate, Settlement Operations position assists with reconciliations, helps resolve exceptions, supports operational requests, and participates in settlement-related projects while following established controls and financial regulations.

Execute accurate, valid, and timely sub-ledger reconciliation, cash reconciliation and application, ensure proper settlement transactions, open items follow up, settlements accounting investigations, and compiling segments of subledger monthly closings.

Performs tasks related to reconciliation and analysis of invoices, cash movements, accounting bookings, to ensure company subledger accounts are properly reconciled and supported for monthly certification, which also includes analysis and attention to details to be able to handle the investigations properly.

Communicate with various business partners daily, to find and solve problems, escalating issues, and following up with management as necessary.

Assist in the preparation of standard and specialized audit supporting reports.
Role Requirements

University student or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or Business Administration
-
1–3 years of accounting experience or equivalent
-
Experience preferred in one or more of the following disciplines: general accounting, cash reconciliation, accounts receivable, and/or billing
-
Intermediate English level required (written and verbal)

Proficient in Microsoft Excel (intermediate level)

High sense of urgency, proactivity, teamwork, communication and time management skills
-
Availability to work at the Santa Ana office three times a week
Work Shift
Western Union values in-person collaboration, problem solving, and ideation whenever possible. We believe this fosters common ways of working and supports how we execute initiatives for our customers. The expectation is to work from the office a minimum of three days a week.
