Position location:  Austin, TX

Role Responsibilities 

Senior Software Engineer (front end focused) will design, develop, and deliver high‑quality applications using Angular, Java, Spring Boot, and AWS. You will collaborate closely with product, architecture, and backend engineers to build scalable, secure, and high‑performance solutions. Experience in the fintech industry is highly desirable.

  • Develop high‑quality, responsive web applications using Angular
  • Build scalable and resilient backend services with Java and Spring Boot
  • Design and deploy cloud‑native solutions on AWS
  • Collaborate with product, architecture, and UX teams to deliver end‑to‑end features
  • Ensure code quality through test driven development (TDD), code reviews, and best engineering practices
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to architectural decisions

Role Requirements 

  • 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience
  • Strong frontend skills with Angular (TypeScript/JavaScript)
  • Deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and REST/microservices
  • Solid experience with AWS (Lambda, ECS, API Gateway, S3, etc.)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, Docker, and modern DevOps practices
  • Strong problem‑solving and system design skills

Preferred Skills

  • Fintech experience (payments, risk, compliance, banking, etc.)
  • Knowledge of security, authentication, and regulatory considerations
  • UI/UX awareness and ability to work with design systems
  • AWS Developer or Solutions Architect certification.

Work Shift

HYBRID – Western Union values in-person collaboration, problem solving, and ideation whenever possible. We believe this fosters common ways of working and supports how we execute initiatives for our customers. The expectation is to work from the office a minimum of three days a week.

Salary

Annual base salary range is $110,000 – 135,000 USD per year.  Total on-target compensation includes a base salary and short-term incentives that align with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary based on candidates’ qualifications, skills, and competencies.
