Role Responsibilities

As an experienced Associate Manager with strong front-end development skills, particularly in Angular, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, to join our dynamic technology organization, you will combine hands-on technical expertise with proven leadership and people management abilities. You will lead and mentor multiple front-end teams, drive best practices, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and maintainable web applications.

Technical Leadership

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of complex front-end solutions using Angular, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Set and enforce coding standards, best practices, and architectural guidelines for front-end development.
  • Review code, provide constructive feedback, and ensure adherence to quality and security standards.
  • Stay current with emerging front-end technologies and trends; evaluate and recommend new tools and frameworks as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers to deliver seamless and engaging user experiences.

 

Team & People Management

  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of front-end engineers across multiple projects and teams.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and high performance.
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development discussions.
  • Facilitate onboarding and training for new team members.

 

Project & Stakeholder Management

  • Work closely with product managers, backend teams, QA, and other stakeholders to define requirements, scope, and deliverables.
  • Plan, prioritize, and track project progress, ensuring timely and successful delivery.
  • Identify and mitigate risks, resolve conflicts, and remove roadblocks for the team.
  • Communicate project status, challenges, and achievements to senior management and stakeholders.

 

Process Improvement

  • Drive process improvements and automation to increase efficiency and quality.
  • Implement and monitor agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) within the team.
  • Ensure proper documentation of code, processes, and best practices.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and collaboration across teams and departments.

 

 

 

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 9+ years of experience in front-end development, with at least 2 years in technical leadership or management role.
  • Deep expertise in Angular (latest versions), HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Experience with state management libraries (e.g., NgRx), RESTful APIs, and responsive design.
  • Strong understanding of web performance, accessibility, and security best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage and mentor engineers in a fast-paced, large-scale environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in large organizations with distributed teams.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with other front-end frameworks (React, Vue.js) is a plus.
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks (Jasmine, Karma, Cypress).

 

Work Shift

 

Western Union values in-person collaboration, problem solving, and ideation whenever possible. We believe this fosters common ways of working and supports how we execute initiatives for our customers. The expectation is to work from the office a minimum of three days a week.
