Role Responsibilities
As a Senior Manager based in Pune, you will drive our technology forward in Compliance area in a Global Product Engineering Organization. You will also –
- Lead and manage a team of engineers to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions in the payments industry.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers, to drive technology forward.
- Develop and maintain a strategic roadmap for technology development, in line with company goals and industry trends.
- Mentor and coach team members to foster a culture of continuous learning and growth.
- Ensure timely and successful delivery of projects by effectively managing resources, timelines, and budgets.
- Strong emphasis on customer journey, product quality, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and continuous development
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry developments, and incorporate them into the company's technology strategy.
- Take ownership of technical decisions, balancing short-term and long-term business objectives.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting open communication and knowledge sharing.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide regular feedback to team members.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks and issues that may impact project delivery. Represent the Org in internal events and conferences, showcasing our technology and thought leadership.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to achieve departmental and company-wide goals.
- Uphold the company's values and promote a culture of diversity and inclusion.
Role Requirements
- 12+ years of professional experience with 6+ years in a leadership role.
- Proven ability to understand the business and ability to contribute to technology direction that drives measurable business improvements
- Excellent decision-making, communication, and collaboration skills
- Excellent understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, OOPs, and OOA/D
- Demonstrated experience in modern programming languages (for example, Java/C++) and design patterns
- Demonstrated capabilities in assessing business needs while providing creative and effective solutions in conformance to emerging technology standards
- Team player with strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced, iterative development environment and adapt to changing business priorities and to thrive under pressure
- Hands-on experience in building a microservices based architecture and platform developed and deployed at scale
- Hands-on experience in building high performance and large-scale real-time systems that scale to billions of transactions per day
- Experience in creating and consuming RESTful and SOAP based web services
- Experience with HTTP, XML, JSON, Node JS, JavaScript
- Hands-on experience in Java/J2EE, XML, Client and Server side Web technologies, Web Services
- Experience developing data-ingesting applications using an industry standard RDBMS. NoSQL experience
- Experience in designing, developing, and deploying Agentic AI systems to streamline and automate complex global operational workflows
- Proven ability to leverage Generative AI tools and platforms to significantly enhance engineering productivity
- Experience with agile development methodologies with Test Driven Development (TDD) and CI (Continuous Integration)/CD (Continuous Delivery)
Work Shift
Western Union values in-person collaboration, problem solving, and ideation whenever possible. We believe this fosters common ways of working and supports how we execute initiatives for our customers. The expectation is to work from the office a minimum of three days a week.
