Role Responsibilities
As a key member of Western Union’s Global Internal Audit team based in Dublin, this role leads the planning and execution of audit activities across the EMEA-APAC region and global audits. Responsibilities include evaluating internal controls, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, and presenting findings to management and regional boards. The role also involves risk consulting, process improvement, and oversight of the Dublin audit team. Additionally, it supports the Head of Internal Audit WUPSIL, acts as deputy when needed, and contributes to regulatory activities under the Central Bank of Ireland’s Control Function (CF2) framework.
- Assist in managing department operations, including audit planning, resource allocation, scheduling and participates in annual risk assessment and planning
- Monitor and report audit progress against the annual plan
- Contribute to department-wide strategy, including staffing, recruitment, training, and methodology enhancements
- Lead selected audits end-to-end, including planning, execution, reporting, and administration in compliance with IIA Standards
- Design and execute audit strategies to assess key controls and identify operational improvements
- Develop and apply data analytics to support audit objectives
- Evaluate processes, systems under development, and organizational change programs
- Identify root causes of control issues and recommend improvements; prepare executive summaries for senior management
- Facilitate meetings with senior stakeholders and present audit findings
- Provide people management for Internal Audit Manager and Auditors in the Dublin office
- Coach, mentor, and supervise staff, offering regular feedback and development support
- Participate in due diligence activities, such as regional acquisitions
- Maintain and update risk assessments for the audit universe
- Recommend enhancements to audit methodology and practices
Role Requirements
- University degree or higher level qualification
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in Audit or related risk / compliance field
- Certification as a CIA, ACA, CFE, CISA or other equivalent is required
- Preferred greater than 2-4 years in a management capacity.
- Preferred 2-4 years Big 4 experience
