In this role, you will be part of Western Union’s Financial Intelligence Unit (“FIU”) – a key division within the Global Compliance organization. The FIU plays a critical role in identifying, escalating, and mitigating money laundering and terrorist financing risks, ensuring regulatory compliance, and protecting the integrity of Western Union’s global financial network. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of data analytics and financial crime compliance, driving innovation and enhancing Western Union’s ability to combat financial crime worldwide.
Role Responsibilities

Lead team members in the analysis, design, development, testing, and documentation of automated data extracts and other key data-centric and system-related projects.

Develop ad-hoc queries to provide data insights for FIU investigations and build data visualizations to support analyses.

Enhance and improve investigative tools, analytical dashboards, and automated reporting to optimize efficiency.

Collaborate with teams across Western Union’s FIU and Global Compliance to enhance communication and workflow.

Maintain accurate documentation for all data-related procedures and recommend improvements.

Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Take ownership of quality and timely delivery of assigned projects and reports.

Apply a continuous improvement mindset, optimizing resources and operational efficiency.

Ensure that data-driven insights positively impact customer experience and internal operations.
Role Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Economics, Software Engineering, and IT are preferred but equivalent job experience of at least 3-5 years will be considered.

Proficiency in querying relational databases (e.g., Snowflake, SQL, Hadoop) and automating processes using SQL or similar database query languages.

Strong understanding of data types, joins, unions, aggregations, and case statements.

Experience with data analysis and visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik.

Knowledge of Python and Power Automate, Power Apps, or SharePoint is a plus.

Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with Excel Macros/VBA is beneficial.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.

Excellent communication skills—able to translate technical concepts into business insights for a diverse audience.

Ability to work independently with a high degree of autonomy and provide leadership on key projects.

A team player with strong collaboration skills and a positive, proactive mindset.

Experience handling confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

Fluency in English (written and verbal) is required.

Prior experience in Compliance is a plus.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Salary
The monthly gross base salary range is 2,858 – 5,583 EUR. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. This role is also eligible to receive an annual bonus that aligns with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary and are based on factors such as a candidate’s qualifications, skills, and competencies
