This role is essential to maintaining the reliability, performance, and availability of our AWS infrastructure services. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of AWS services, a strong background in incident management, and a proactive approach to platform stability and optimization.

Key Responsibilities  

Incident Response & Resolution  

• Act as the primary responder for incidents involving AWS infrastructure services such as EC2, RDS, Lambda, S3, and VPC.  
• Lead the troubleshooting and resolution of platform issues, including network outages, latency issues, and service interruptions.  
• Provide clear and timely communication to stakeholders during incident lifecycles.  

Root Cause Analysis & Post-Incident Actions

• Conduct root cause analyses for AWS-related incidents to identify underlying issues.  
• Document incident findings and develop action plans to prevent recurrence.  
• Implement AWS best practices and Well-Architected Framework principles to improve system resilience.  

Monitoring & Alerting  

• Design and maintain monitoring solutions using AWS services like CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and third-party tools such as Datadog or PagerDuty.  
• Continuously refine alerts to improve incident detection and reduce false positives.  

Infrastructure Automation  

• Automate incident response tasks using AWS Lambda, Step Functions, or Systems Manager.  
• Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates using CloudFormation, Terraform, or AWS SDK to streamline AWS resource provisioning and configuration.  

AWS Optimization & Reliability Engineering  

• Optimize the performance and cost of AWS services by analyzing resource utilization and scaling configurations.  
• Implement AWS-native solutions for high availability, disaster recovery, and fault tolerance.  

Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing  

• Partner with DevOps, development, and SRE teams to enhance platform stability and streamline incident resolution.  
• Mentor junior engineers on AWS services and incident management practices.  

Documentation & Playbooks  

• Maintain and enhance incident runbooks, AWS architecture diagrams, and operational documentation.    
• Develop and share best practices for incident detection, troubleshooting, and resolution across teams.  

Proactive Improvements  

• Analyze incident trends and proactively address potential AWS platform vulnerabilities.  
• Implement preventive measures such as Auto Scaling, AWS Config rules, and IAM policy optimizations.  

Required Skills & Qualifications  

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).  
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with AWS services and cloud infrastructure.  
• Strong expertise in core AWS services, including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudFront, VPC, and Route 53.  
• Proficiency in monitoring and alerting tools such as AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail and such.  
• Strong scripting skills with Python, Bash, or PowerShell, including AWS CLI and SDK usage.  
• In-depth knowledge of networking concepts like VPC, subnets, security groups, and load balancers.  
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.  

Soft Skills  

• Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities.  
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.  
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities during critical incidents.  
• Strong focus on continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.  

Preferred Qualifications 

• AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, AWS DevOps Engineer, or AWS Advanced Networking).  
• Experience with containerized applications and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, ECS, or EKS).  
• Familiarity with AWS Security Hub, GuardDuty, and IAM best practices.  
• Incident management certifications (e.g., ITIL) are a plus.
