Role Responsibilities
As a Senior Manager, Solution Engineering (Devops), you will be responsible for driving DevOps, Cloud, and SRE strategy, along with team and stakeholder management, for enterprise‑scale, mission‑critical platforms in the Payment Transfer / FinTech domain. You will also –

- Define, execute, and govern DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) strategy across enterprise platforms
- Act as the DevOps & SRE leadership anchor from India, leading teams across Pune and Hyderabad and collaborating closely with onshore stakeholders in Denver
- Supporting a variety of complex systems, infrastructure, and applications.
- Apply Devops CI/CD principles to ensure system reliability, scalability, and performance.
- Define and implement Service Level Objectives (SLOs), Service Level Indicators (SLIs), and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for critical systems and services.
- Establish and manage error budgets, ensuring alignment with business priorities and reliability goals.
- Manage our internal systems to ensure that critical infrastructure is operating optimally and implement mechanisms to prevent service impacting incidents.
- Utilize trends & metrics to identify opportunities for improvements within existing frameworks, tools and processes to continuously improve systems.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate business requirements into measurable targets.
- Advocate for a reliability-first culture, balancing feature velocity with system stability.
- Develop automation tools and scripts (Python, Go) to eliminate manual tasks, streamline deployments, enable scaling, and provision infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Proactively identify, diagnose, and resolve complex production issues, performing deep Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and driving preventive measures.
- Design, build, and maintain robust monitoring, alerting, and logging systems (Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana) to provide actionable insights into system health.
- Lead incident management processes and postmortem reviews for continuous improvement.
- Engineer solutions to scale systems, optimize performance, and manage capacity for future growth.
- Collaborate with Development, Security, and Operations teams to embed reliability, security, and operational best practices throughout the software lifecycle.
- Execute success through diligent planning, attention to detail, effective delegation, and efficient decision-making.
- Interface and collaborate with other engineers in geographically distributed development centers.
- Strong emphasis on customer journey, product quality, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and continuous development
- Drive AI awareness and intelligent automation within DevOps and SRE practices,
- Building, leading, and managing a high-performing team of engineers and leads.
- Hold regular 1 1s with direct reports, help them navigate challenges, and coach them for their career development.
- Be a culture champion on the team and across the company.
Role Requirements
- A minimum of 15+ years of professional experience in engineering work, as well as minimum of 4 years of experience in leading engineering teams around Devops.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS,GCP or Azure ) and Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible).
- Excellent understanding of monitoring tools (Dynatrace, Grafana) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Good understanding of distributed systems, networking, and security principles.
- Good technical skills in architecture patterns, solutions design, and integration development.
- Familiarity with integrations, APIs
- Good experience with DevOps tools such Jenkins/Gitlab CI, Jfrog Artifactory, Sonar, Gradle, Ansible, Docker, Rundeck or Ansible Tower and AWS services
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for managing both direct and indirect talent effectively.
- Overseeing technical analysis, cost and effort estimation, production environment platform/system design, architectural fit and compliance, resource schedules, delivery milestones, collaboration, and overall production environment quality.
- Good acumen in designing, building, deploying, and operating cloud systems, as well as resolving critical issues
- Collaborate with other teams and engineers to find innovative solutions for moderately complex problems.
- Excellent decision-making and collaboration skills.
Work Shift
Western Union values in-person collaboration, problem solving, and ideation whenever possible. We believe this fosters common ways of working and supports how we execute initiatives for our customers. The expectation is to work from the office a minimum of three days a week.
