This role is responsible for drafting and negotiating agreements with local vendors and subagents, as well as managing corporate governance obligations for local legal entities, including the preparation of board meetings and the registration of corporate resolutions with local authorities.
Role Responsibilities
- Leads defense strategies, prepares responses, and gathers evidence for consumer protection claims.
- Coordinate with external law firms to develop responses to lawsuits and define effective defense strategies and follow-up.
- Follow-up of litigation (pre-judicial, judicial and/or transaction stage); oversees the coordination and leadership of expert evidence processes in local litigation, working closely with accounting, compliance, risk, and business teams.
- Provide legal support across multiple departments such as risk, collections and procurement , ensures timely coordination of responses to audits, and contributes legal input to local projects related to the owned operation in Argentina.
- Responsible for preparing and negotiating different agreements, accelerating financial growth and expanding the agent network within the region.
- Assure from a legal perspective the correct implementation of any new product, understanding the market and their challenges, identifying risks and opportunities.
- Close follow-up of any regulatory requirement, or any risk that could affect the business. Achieve targets and deadlines aligned with the business team.
- Relationship with the local regulators. Actively participate in meetings with other WU teams, clients, agents, and vendors.
- Review, draft, revise and negotiate a wide range of legal documents, including contracts with agents, vendors, partners, WU entities and other third parties.
- Coordinate with Outside Counsel the corporate matters, such as powers of attorney, minutes of shareholders/Board of Directors’ meetings and mandatory registration of legal entities.
- Follow up legislative and regulatory developments. You research and analyze the law on basic to moderately complex issues.
Role Requirements
- 5+ years of legal experience with top law firms with international clients or corporate legal department or corporate legal environment mostly in litigation and administrative proceedings.
- License to practice law, a qualified lawyer.
- Solid drafting, research and organizational skills, with the ability to provide analytical and consultative direction.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management
- Capable of routinely working with highly confidential and sensitive information
- Demonstrated experience with review of complex legal documents and/or preparation of complex legal responses/documents at a professional level.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills, demonstrated negotiation skills
- Advanced English language is a must for this role.
