In this critical role, you will utilize your skills and innovation to lead the planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of our enterprise-wide payment platform, spanning both on-premises and cloud environments. This role requires a deep understanding of application, database, and infrastructure design principles, and a passion for building scalable, secure, and high-performance systems.
You will collaborate with engineering, product teams, external payment processors, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver complex solutions that drive business value through new product capabilities, operational optimizations, and technological innovation. You will also support a research and development function to explore emerging technologies and recommend enhancements to the platform.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of scalable, secure, and high-performance payment solutions across cloud and on-prem environments.
- Collaborate with global engineering teams, product managers, and external partners to define and deliver complex, multi-tier solutions.
- Champion customer experience, product quality, performance tuning, and continuous improvement.
- Design and develop backend applications using layered architecture, ensuring clear separation of concerns across business logic, data access, and integration layers to support scalability, maintainability, and performance.
- Apply Agile methodologies and maintain high test coverage (80%-unit, 70% integration).
- Conduct engineering studies and provide strategic recommendations for platform enhancements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve application issues in collaboration with operations and technical teams.
- Contribute to technical documentation and ensure alignment with emerging standards and best practices.
- Communicate effectively with global partners and cross-functional teams.
Role Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field—or equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of experience in software engineering and architecture.
- Strong communication skills and experience working with global teams.
- Proficient in backend development using Java, Spring Boot with experience building RESTful APIs and working with JSON, XML, OAuth2, JWT
- Hands-on experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL, Redis), and familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD (Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
- Comfortable with Version Control & Collaboration tools like Git, GitHub/GitLab, Jira, Confluence), and monitoring/logging tools such as Dynatrace, Grafana, and ELK Stack.
- Experience with Agile, Scaled Agile, and other development methodologies.
- Ability to lead technical discussions and drive architectural decisions.
- Strong problem-solving skills, ability to triage technical issues and drive resolution with cross functional teams. Thrives on working under pressure in a fast-paced multi-project environment.
- Have proven experience in working with a team of engineers and Service providers in a geographically. distributed structure
Pluses include:
- The following experience are considered pluses: EAI products from TIBCO, IBM, Oracle, MuleSoft, WSO2, JMS, Kafka, middleware technologies and event based/Rule based platforms.
- Hands-on experience integrating with banks, acquirers and processors in an ecommerce environment.
- Proficiency in English and Spanish, with the ability to read, write, and translate documentation and communications fluently in both languages.

Salary
The on-target earning range is $125,000-155,000 per year, which includes a base salary and variable target incentive (including short-term incentives) that aligns with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary based on candidate’s qualifications, skills and competencies.
