Territory Sales Manager for Portugal – Lisbon, Portugal

At Western Union, we’re looking for a Territory Sales Manager for Portugal to oversee retail expansion, strengthen key relationships, and ensure seamless operations that enhance customer and agent experiences. This role is all about taking action—managing the market, optimizing performance, and making an impact where it matters most.

Reporting to the Regional Vice President, you will be responsible for Portugal overall business operation, to grow the business through existing and new Retail partners, with a strong competing strategy and constantly driving operational improvements to enhance Customer agent experience. You will be directly accountable for the achievements of the transactional and revenue goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Achieving overall Country financial target (omnichannel volumes & revenues).
- Drive growth and develop a strong relationship with existing and with new partners in the market.
- Prospect and sign new strategic retail partners.
- Negotiate and renew all expiring agreements with existing Master Agents.
- Build a strong local Sales Team to expand direct retail independent network in Portugal.
- Enhance and implement strong competing strategies through effective pricing proposals and incentive programs.
- Enhance overall Retail network brand visibility in the country.
- Help drive Country digital acceleration with an omnichannel approach.
- Constantly identify business and operational risks and opportunities; converting them into actionable plans and driving effective implementation in partnership with a cross functional team: Operations, Marketing, Compliance, Legal, Sales Support, Credit & Collection, Pricing Team, Receive team.
- Stay up to date with market and industry intelligence at micro and macro level (monitor competitor prices, promotions, network presence etc.)
Role Requirements
- Strong interpersonal skills to drive and build positive relationships and influence externally and internally, at various levels of the Organization, and even in challenging situations to meet the strategic plan.
- Customer centric and culturally sensitive to the diaspora landscape and micro-entrepreneurs from different countries and backgrounds.
- The ability to work independently and make sound decisions, with an entrepreneurial mindset and problem-solving approach.
- Strong team management with the right combination of attention to detail and strategic approach.
- Strong Team player.
- Experience in the money transfer industry is preferred
- Fluency in English and Portuguese is a must.
