In this role, you will be a member of Western Union’s Financial Intelligence Unit (“FIU”) located within the Global Compliance organization. The FIU assists to mitigate money laundering and terrorist financing risks to Western Union. This highly visible area is responsible for identifying, escalating, and mitigating money laundering risk related activity.
This role operates in the FIU’s Office of Administration and Oversight (OAO). This team is intended to be an Enterprise-wide function that will serve to provide a variety of support and oversight functions for the FIU. It also serves as a Control Tower, helping to manage communication and information flow across the organization.
Specifically, in this role, you will be asked to serve in a multi-faceted capacity and to demonstrate a wide range of skills as well as be responsible for providing oversight, development, and guidance to direct reports and other team members that are tasked with supporting various OAO Divisions. This role will be responsible for communicating, coaching, and educating elements of operational support as well as AML/CFT risk. This role will ensure that team members deliver high quality work and results that meet or exceed functional and customer experience targets and will also evaluate staff performance against established benchmarks and identify areas for growth.
This role will also design, oversee and maintain programs/processes within the OAO and work cross functionally on tasks and projects related to elements such as documentation, workforce planning, project management, metrics and reporting, data analysis, regulatory report submissions and training as well as complete various administrative tasks such as overseeing the execution of multiple, internal online portals and intranet sites, as well as supporting department communication efforts. This role will also respond to requests for various types of information (documents, data, figures, lists etc.). You will lead specific projects and tasks, interact with other FIU or Compliance functional teams, and serve as a delegate for OAO or FIU leadership.
This role will provide input and determine OAO strategy and team goals, OAO plans/priorities and programmatic initiatives as well as influence larger FIU directives via work on broader strategic, department-wide projects, initiatives, and trainings. This role will be called upon to manage and guide and/or independently execute a wide variety of ad-hoc diagnostic and research requests from FIU and Compliance senior leadership.
For this role you will need Bachelor’s degree or equivalent job experience in the financial services industry is acceptable, Graduate degree is preferred. 7+ years of experience in any of the following: Bank Secrecy Act, AML Compliance, general and/or risk-based compliance, or previous analytical experience is preferred. 5+ years of experience with managing teams and/or process. Team leader with strong collaborative qualities and a positive demeanor. Experience drafting strategic plans, designing, overseeing, and maintaining programs/processes. Experience with resource planning and goal setting. Must have exceptional communication skills, both written and oral, to clearly explain key observations to a wide audience.
You will need experience briefing senior leaders and key external partners / stakeholders, prior experience drafting/approving policies, procedures, and program documentation, and detail oriented, excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task under tight deadlines. You will need prior experience reviewing and analyzing internal processes, data, or information. Prior experience in creating and presenting business process (flows, plans outlines etc.), Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, & PowerPoint), and demonstrated initiative and creative problem-solving skills. Experience making independent decisions, working with a very high level of autonomy. Able to take a lead role and provide leadership to others in the department on both short and long-term tasks or projects.
You will also have the ability to work with a high level of autonomy and work on confidential and sensitive matters with a high degree of professionalism and discretion. Proven track record of highly complex problem solving, decision-making and readily adapts to changing work priorities and can effectively handle multiple priorities simultaneously . Fluent in both written and spoken English, proficient skills in other languages would be an advantage. CAMS, CFCS, or related professional certification preferred .

Annual base salary gross: $98,080-163,467. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the Western Union salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role. The base salary is one component of Western Union’s total compensation package for employees.
