About the Technology Engineering Center (TEC)
Established in 2018 as a strategic talent center focused on innovation to help expand the reach of Western Union’s omnichannel platform and digital efforts. The site has almost 1,000 employees, building end-to-end products, solutions, and capabilities to deliver a better customer experience globally.

Customer Experience
This team enables consumers and businesses to move money across borders securely and seamlessly through Digital and Retail Channels. It provides the ease and convenience to transfer and receive money from almost everywhere in the world Online, the WU App, over the phone, or in-person at our locations. We deliver these solutions with cross-functional Agile Teams using niche technologies like React Native, React JS, HTML5, CSS3, Typescript, JSON, SOAP, REST, GraphQL, Cloud, and Microservices.
Compliance Solution
This team helps prevent fraud and implement Anti Money Laundering programs like Know Your Customer, Know Your Agent, Sanctions and PEP Screening, Transaction Monitoring, Regulatory Reporting, and Case Management. We drive the engineering execution of large transformation programs that are re-imagining the Compliance ecosystem using new-age technologies and capabilities in User Experience design, Microservices, Cloud, and Artificial Intelligence.
Data Engineering
This team covers processing risks and payments data in real-time for fraud analysts to validate flagged transactions before they approve them to ensure customers’ money is reaching safe hands. The team manages 3+ petabytes of data in AWS cloud for various use cases and uses technologies like EMR, Kafka, Spark Streaming, Java, Talend, and Informatica to process our data. We have an enterprise data platform and marketplace built on Snowflake and we also use databases like HBase and PostgreSQL.
